From Volunteer to Community Coach: A Student’s Journey of Growth

Ewan is a Sport student at Riverside College and has recently started working for Halton Borough Council after completing over 50 hours of volunteering since the summer.

Ewan first got involved through Walking Football sessions that his dad attended, before going on to volunteer at summer camps and weekly community sport sessions. During this time, Halton Borough Council supported him by funding his FA Level 1 Introduction to Coaching Football qualification, as well as completing First Aid and Safeguarding training.

Ewan is now working under a Community Coach, delivering sport across the community. He’s really enjoyed the journey so far and says Colin, Jenny, Jonny and Danny have all been incredibly helpful and great to work with, supporting him every step of the way.

A great example of how volunteering can lead to opportunities and employment.
