Our
Recruitment
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
At Halton Borough Council we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce and a vital part of this is to encourage equality, diversity and inclusion in all respects.
We are committed to making our recruitment practices barrier-free and tailored to best suit the needs and strength of the individual. This includes making adjustments for people with a disability, neurodiversity or with long-term health conditions.
As a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee an interview for any disabled person who meets the minimum requirements of the post being applied for.
If you require accommodations, please reach out during the recruitment process so that we can make this the best possible experience for you – resourcing@halton.gov.uk
Safer Recruitment
Some of our roles require further checks. The Council and its schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff, workers and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have robust procedures in place to ensure that everyone who has access to children, young people or adults at risk, or who has access to sensitive data relating to children, young people and adults, are safely recruited and employed.
If the post you are applying for involves working with children, young people or vulnerable adults you will be required to provide names and addresses of referees.
If you are not currently working with children, young people or vulnerable adults, but have done so in the past, one of your referees should be the employer who most recently employed you in a role working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
For roles within our registered services regulatory requirements ask us to seek information about a candidate’s previous employment. As part of your application, you will need to provide details of all vulnerable group employers you have worked for, including both paid and voluntarily work.
If you are successful in your application, you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Criminal Records and/or Barred List(s) Check. Further information about the criminal records and barred lists checking process can be found at https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check/overview
